The Honda Jet HA-420 is the first plane produced by Honda and has been available to the public since 2015.
The conception, construction and running-in of this splendid aircraft took a long time. The first model was ready at the end of 2003 and was presented at the EAA AirVenture Air Show in Oshkosh, Wisconsin in mid-2005.
It was another 10 years before the final version of the new GE Honda HF-120 turbo fan was released by the Federal Aviation Administration at the end of 2013.
This engine is very light, weighs only 180 kg, but can develop a take-off thrust of 930 kg.
It is a single-fan engine with compressor and two-stage turbine, the evolution of the HF 118.
This was the first aircraft turbine engine created by Honda in the 1980s. It is a very efficient engine with about 20% less consumption than other aircraft in the same category.
Honda is planning to increase production by 25% to five HondaJet Elite per month from the current four by next year. The goal will be achieved through automation and expansion of the North Carolina (USA) plant, which is scheduled to open in July 2020.
Honda Jet Specs
The Honda Jet can cover a maximum distance of 1437 miles (2661 KM).
If we consider its maximum speed which is 483 mph (778 kph) it can reach its destination after about 3 hours of flight.
This aeronautical jewel does not have excessive demands, it has been studied above all for the basic market of private jets.
Just think that at the cost of a luxury plane like the Gulfstream 650 you can buy 15 Honda jets!
Another think that makes it an “economic” plane is the fact that only one pilot is needed to fly it.
The Honda Jet Interior
The plane has a modern Garmin glass cockpit and is pretty large.
4 passengers can take place on board (in the standard configuration).
There is the possibility of installing a fifth seat in the main cabin and, only if the pilot is only one, a fifth passenger can fly on this private plane.
Obviously the Honda jet is not as well equipped as other more expensive planes.
The 4 passengers face each other 2 to 2 and can use 2 tray tables that are extracted from each side of the plane.
There are reading lamps and fans above the passengers’ heads, a bit like commercial airplanes.
There is also a toilet with a sink, but it is a bit narrow.
In conclusion, this aircraft is only good for short-haul flights, both for its limited range and the limited facilities on board.

The Honda Jet Elite
Honda produced a new model which it called “Elite” in 2018.
The new version has a longer range as it reaches 1650 miles. This is due to an enlargement of the tank.
The Honda Jet Elite also has a quieter cabin and an available galley.
It is currently the only version available on the market.

Honda Jet Price (Honda jet AH-420 & Honda Jet Elite)
The price of the Honda jet AH-420 was around US$ 4.5 million.
The 2020 Honda Jet Elite price is US$5.281 million. 37 aircrafts were delivered in 2018.
Given this cost, we can say that this is one of the cheapest private aircraft in the world. Considering also the quality and about 30 years of scientific and industrial research to produce it, its price is really incredible.
Obviously it is not a top end aircraft, but for those who want to save a few million dollars it is the ideal aircraft.
